About Kaddish Shelanu

Among all the prayers in the siddur, the Kaddish stands alone. All can agree that saying it or hearing it stirs within us a deep awe of Hashem and intense emotion. Reciting it brings great benefit to the souls of the departed and the reciter.

The kaddish is typically recited for 11 months following the passing of a loved one and thereafter on every annual yartzteit day. It is a very unique act of chessed (kindness) and one that falls into the select category of mitzvot that cannot be repaid, making them extremely valuable.

Although many wish to say kaddish, it is often found to be a difficult task to execute. Halachically one qualified Jewish man may recite kaddish on behalf of another. Optimally, the person should be as closely related to the deceased as possible.

For the yartzeit day kaddish, no payment is required but when the 11-month kaddish is being set up, minimal payment is required to properly carry out the mitzvah.

Over the years it became clear to my husband and myself that there was a major need for a community resource for kaddish services. Our hope is to connect those who are able and willing to say kaddish with those seeking to arrange it.

We are seeking to compile a databank of orthodox Jewish men who attend minyanim daily and are happy to recite kaddish for another. We will also be using this site to easily gather requests from those in need of kaddish services. We will do an exchange and allocate someone from our list to complete the mitzvah.

Our goal is strictly leshem shamayim to bring honor to Hashem and comfort to the souls of our nation. We are in touch with qualified Rabbis and aim to make this as seamless as possible.

Let their legacy live on

Kaddish Shelanu is an organization dedicated to ensuring every Jewish soul has the Kaddish recited on their behalf

How It Works

Whether you are seeking to set up Kaddish for a loved one or are interested in reciting Kaddish on behalf of a departed soul, it is important to understand the difference between a Yartzeit Kaddish and an 11 Month Kaddish.

A Yartzeit Kaddish is said on the yartzeit day (the hebrew date of passing) every year after the passing (once a year).

The 11 Month Kaddish is recited every single day for 11 months proceeding the passing of a relative.

To set up a Yartzeit Kaddish, no payment is required to be made from the requester to the reciter. However a small donation of $25 is recommended to help cover the organization's costs.

To set up an 11 Month Kaddish, on the other hand, requires minimal payment ($50/mo) to be made from the requester to the reciter to properly fulfill the mitzvah.
